Sonoff took the opposite approach to the Tuya chaos: one product, one variant, sold by their own official store on AliExpress. The SNZB-06P pairs with Zigbee2MQTT in seconds and reports a single occupancy state. There is no variant lottery and firmware behaves the same on every unit, which counts for a lot in this category.
Technically it uses 5.8GHz microwave radar rather than 24GHz mmWave. In practice that means it is less sensitive to the micro-movements of a person sitting still, and its reliable range ends around 4 meters. It also sees through thin drywall more than you would like, so placement matters. Point it away from doorways and neighboring rooms.
Where it shines is small enclosed spaces. In a bathroom or a laundry room the range limit is irrelevant, fans are predictable, and the thing simply works day after day. It needs USB-C power, so plan for a cable. For small rooms it is the path of least friction at the lowest price for a brand-name unit.
